Böker 1969 Mach-1 Damast

Product description

Unrestrained and inherently powerful. Capricious, yet with a calm temperament. The horizon stretches endlessly, leaving the routines of daily life far behind. The road unfolds with coarse asphalt, faded yellow lines, and drifting desert dust. Eventually, the seemingly infinite expanse evokes a sense of liberation, as the setting sun casts a golden glow across both the landscape and the mind. A gentle breeze complements the deep, resonant growl of the Windsor V8 small block engine—delivering 250 horsepower—and transforms the drive in the Ford Mustang into a uniquely memorable experience.

Taking inspiration from the WWII-era P-51 Mustang fighter plane, Ford introduced its own Mustang in April 1964. This compact, affordable sports coupe—known as a "pony car"—featured the iconic galloping horse emblem on the front grille and quickly captured the attention of a younger audience. In response to the high-powered offerings from competitors like Dodge, Pontiac, and Chevrolet, Ford entered the muscle car arena with the Mustang Mach-1. The inaugural 1969 Mach-1 model, available exclusively as a fastback, stood out with both performance and stylistic upgrades: a sport-tuned suspension, matte black racing stripes, a cowl induction hood, chrome exhaust tips and fuel cap, hood pins, front and rear spoilers, and a more upscale interior. These enhancements helped drive sales of more than 72,000 units.

Over time, the Mustang has come to define the American muscle car and now carries that legacy into its seventh generation. Boker captures the essence of this automotive legend with the 1969 Mach-1 Damast pocketknife. Crafted using elements from original Mustang parts—including the wheel hub, wishbone, and suspension—the knife's 84-layer Damascus steel blade is hand-forged by Chad Nichols in a Wavepool pattern. The blade, which opens smoothly via a removable thumb stud, features a pronounced ricasso and benefits from high torque transfer and a secure liner lock for confident use.

The handle, machined from lightweight yet durable aluminum, includes finger grooves reminiscent of the Mustang’s wing-like side profile. A gold-colored inlay on the front scale references the side trim of the car’s body. The Silver Jade finish further enhances the knife’s dynamic appearance, echoing the visceral feel of a V8 engine. The slanted rear of the handle mimics the fastback silhouette, while the intricately designed pivot screw evokes the drive of the car’s wheels. The pocket clip—milled from solid stainless steel—is straight-edged and angular, reminiscent of the Mustang’s door handles.

The knife is presented in a premium floating display case and comes with an air of effortless cool—and just a touch of Mustang attitude. Meticulously handmade in the Boker Manufactory in Solingen.
